Renowned tipster OnLeaks has provided an early glimpse into Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Fold 6, slated for release in the latter half of this year, typically at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in August. The leaked renders suggest a significant redesign for the next generation of Samsung’s foldable phones.
Traditionally, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold devices featured a slim frame, but this is set to change with the Galaxy Fold 6, as indicated by the leaked renders. The device appears to sport a thicker frame, signaling a shift towards a boxier design aesthetic.
In terms of dimensions, the unfolded Galaxy Fold 6 is expected to measure 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm, making it 1.4 mm shorter and 2.6 mm wider compared to its predecessor, the Fold 5. This alteration brings it closer in appearance to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The renders reveal notable features such as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, volume rocker keys on the right side, and a SIM card tray on the left edge. The device also boasts three microphones and a speaker grille at the top, while the bottom houses a USB-C port, another microphone, and a speaker grille.
On the back panel, a pill-shaped protruding module accommodates three vertically stacked camera sensors alongside an LED flash unit.
The Galaxy Fold 6 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch internal screen and a 6.2-inch external display with a center-aligned punch-hole cutout. Notably absent from the renders are any indications of a storage slot or mount for the S-Pen.
In collaboration with OnLeaks, Smartprix has presented exclusive 360-degree design renders and 5K renders of the Galaxy Fold 6, showcasing its design from all angles. The device exhibits completely flat sides, resembling the aesthetics of Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy S24 series. The renders also depict a boxy frame akin to the latest flagship S24 series, retaining similar port configurations on the top and bottom.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Fold 6 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display, both utilizing Dynamic AMOLED technology with a 120 Hz refresh rate. While the inner display may employ plastic or ultra-thin glass, the cover display is likely to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Armor for protection.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Fold 6 is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy chipset, accompanied by 12 or 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Also rumors indicate that Galaxy Fold 6 to have massive improvement in camera department.
Other features include a 25W charging speed, One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 out of the box, and up to seven years of software updates.
The Galaxy Fold 6 is expected to be announced in late July 2024, with availability for early buyers by August 2024.
